In May 2017, he acquired controlling interest in a partnership with Serra Automotive of four automobile franchises in Colorado Springs—two Chevrolet, one Honda and one Volkswagen. In November 2017, he acquired an equity interest in Roger Dean Chevrolet in West Palm Beach, Florida. Spanning more than four decades, his career in auto retail began with the Maroone Automotive Group (1975-1997), which under his leadership as president, grew to nine franchises in six locations with 900 associates. In partnership with his father Al, the Maroone Automotive Group was consistently recognized as one of the top-performing auto retail groups in America.

His business interests involve jet and helicopter charters, yacht charters, restaurants, skin care and waste disposal, as well as numerous real estate investments including condominiums, apartments, town homes, land, commercial centers and office buildings. Maroone serves as the lead director of Carvana and is a member of the Cox Automotive board of advisors and the Cleveland Clinic board of trustees. He is the co-chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Florida Leadership board. Recognition of his contributions to the automotive industry include being honored by Automotive News as an All-Star and one of the industry’s 50 Visionary Dealers of all time, as well as receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Boca Raton Concours D’Elegance.
